Why
is this program being offered? To
respond to the growing hunger and searching of many persons who seek
to deepen their spiritual lives; To meet the need for an
intensive, high quality formation program which will nurture the gift
of the Spirit in men and women called to the Ministry of Spiritual Direction; To provide competent, compassionate
Spiritual Directors.
Who
should participate in the program? Men and women (lay, clergy
and members of religious orders) who sense God's call to this ministry. Persons of prayer, having
discernment, maturity, good listening skills, and senstivity. Those who often find others
coming to them to talk about their experiences of God in their daily
life and prayer.
What
will the program entail? Personal spiritual
disciplines; At home reading and study; Several short reflection
papers and a final summary paper; Receiving and giving spiritual
direction; Meeting in peer groups with
others engaged in the ministry of spiritual direction; Minmum of four retreat days; Two seven-day residencies
which will include prayer, worship, seminars,
supervised practical experience and quiet reflection time.
